Been boosting at 14-15 psi roughly, Car is almost standard engine wise, Went flat today, Jerking boost, getting no reading on my boost gauge at all, By passed the boost solenoid/controller, Back to normal but even better, Now instead of the boost hitting 14-15psi then fluttering as it should, It boosts at 16-17psi now and holds that boost, no fluttering of the wastegate, Is this normal after bypassing the boost controller as i thought the ecu fluttered the boost not the controller.. Is this safe aswell? Many thanks.

does anybody know if this whats meant to happen, holds full boost without wastegate flutter when boost controller is bypassed?
Goes like stink now mind.

Sounds like the controler is faulty. or split in one the vac pipes to or from the controler. With it by-pasted you'll be getting full boost. Not a good idea or safe.

It is the controler itself at fault, Its failed badly, Im holding 15-17psi boost now at about 2500rpm and its a dream but is this whats suposed to happen when bypassing the controller, does the boost not flutter anymore? I have been reading around and it seems td5 can hold a lot more boost via remap etc.. Still need confirmation off someone who has theirs running similair to mine.

Seems the wastegate is controlling the boost solely on its own now, 1.2bar - 16-17psi being standard, It must be dumping boost at this pressure as it goes no higher, When it hits 20psi it will go into limp mode as it has overboosted. Problem solved myself i guess.

The little pipes are pressure, not vac.It will be fine running like this - after all TD5 Defenders are run just with a boost capsule.
I have a customer who did this about two years ago because I didnt have a boost solenoid actuator in stock and he needed to go somewhere.Worked OK so he left it,been fine ever since.
