Hi am looking for advice about my boost control fitted to my 2004 facelift freelander.
Am suffering from lack of boost below 2000 rpm. Have renewed all vacuum pipes and intercooler pipes with silicone versions. Have soaked actuator arm with penetrating oil. Still no joy in getting low rpm boost. While doing this I was looking at my boost control solenoid and compared it to on line photos and U-tube videos and my boost control has two barbs and not three. This may account for lack of the mini filter dangling behind engine block. What am asking is do I need the 3 barb solenoid to get low down boost. At present nothing below 2250 rpm by 3000 rpm turbo is in full boost mode. By 4000 rpm very short later I'm changing gear to avoid red line. Going up any kind of hill or incline involves using 1st or 2nd gear or crawl up in 3rd gear at 30 mph. Any other car I have driven can manage same hills or inclines in 4th or 5th. Have run turbo cleaner through fuel tank. Turbo is obviously not completely useless. Suggestions or ideas most welcome.
