no haven't checked for splits. will do tomorrow!

other possible causes now?
1.dodgy air filter, will remove and drive tomorrow.
2 de laminating turbo hose??? would that make noise under load?
what about a valve not opening enough? slightly bent push rod, worn tappet guide or followers or worst still worn cam lobes. could that cause it?

right after a lot of removing filters taking pipes of etc etc im starting to think im just being paranoid about induction noise!. Im convinced my exhaust internals are knackered as it has a very deep boom and whilst sticking a brick on accelerator (in neutral of course) i spent ages walking around vehicle and climbing round inside. and the exhaust is definitely booming. so i will sort that out first and come back to this problem. if it is even a problem!

Possible the silencer internals are rotten and baffles are no longer !!

UPDATE:
replaced rear and center silencer with new allmakes items.
its a bit quieter BUT! the booming is STILL there!!

this is getting very irritating as its so uncomfortable driving it is so loud!

i suppose the next thing to replace is the front pipe!. the one that is on does not have flexi, its a straight pipe, so maybe i will try a flexi as that might reduce a few more vibrations too!
the tail pipe really does move alot when ticking over i would guess vibrates around 2" side to side! could be an engine moiunt but i don't get any vibes through either of the gear sticks!

I can't really hear anything that I'd describe as 'booming' in your original video?

There are really only two ways for an engine to make booming - induction or exhaust. If it's induction, then you need to look at what is not meeting the original design spec, because I think that you've got some sort of resonance going on. What's too stiff or too soft, wrong length or diameter. Engineers do spend a fair bit of time designing this stuff out - it's not pot luck.

You should also look for anything restricting the system, anything coming into contact with chassis/body/engine that might be changing the sound. As an example, think of a string on a violin and the enormous range of noise that it can make simply by changing the number of 'waves' in it. Same violin, same string, same tension in it. Just a different free length.

If you can capture the boom in another video it would help.

you can only hear the booming when its moving and under load.
im gonna have a go at putting it in low first and driving with bonnet off and see if i can get a vid.
its rev dependent and must be under load to hear it, so im hoping being in low first will reduce any wind noise as i should be able to induce the boom at walking pace!!
