Hi guys

Quick question here,

will a 265/75 fit alright on a recessed 90 bonnet? Will i lose too much view? as a note, the 90 is converted to a 300 tdi.

cheers

Jack up the vehicle, remove a tyre and put it on the bonnet ;)

[edit]If it's the wrong size then I may question why you have a spare at a different size[/edit]

alright smart arse, ill give that a try (thanks :) ). Do you know if its an MOT fail if it sits too high?

nope same size as my existing wheels.

I've just bought a 90 and the first job is remove the tyre from the bonnet, yes it obscures the view, from external it looks ok, from driver seat it you struggle to see passenger side front corner
Cheers

I had mine there, same size...it's fine...you'll get used to it. Only problem with a tire on the hood is when you crest hills.

Snap and it takes 2 to open the bonnet! The spring that pops it up out of the catch stays compressed, you can't pull the lever and lift the bonnet at the same time!

First thing I did too and it was only the standard wheel. It really affects the aero-dynamics too :hysterically_laughi

Ive mounted my 265 to my bonnet. It does restrict view slightly but I dont have a problem with this. Driven plenty of defenders with the wheels on the bonnet. As said before the best thing to do to make your mind up is to take one of your wheels off and place on the bonnet whilst parked. I can still lift the bonnect on my own too. I replaced my pull release (cheap and 5 min job) because the old one was siezed. The new one can be pulled then rotated slightly. The rotation locks it out so I can lift the bonnect on its own.

265/75 not really a problem, 285/75 takes a bit to get used to, a lot of newer cars you cant see anything infront of windscreen bottom at all !

Fit earlier type bonnet release (external) then not a problem opening, utilize weight lifting technique , IIRC press and jerk ?

does the fact that its a 300 tdi have any relavence?

on the 300tdi the fuel injectors sit on the top...

I know the military switched to the side mount as the extra weight of the tyre on the bonnet off road could cause the bonnet to impact the fuel injectors and damage them?
