Lever moves fully to the right - bonnet is partly released but not freed- must be still catching
How do you release the bonnet

Mine moves to the left to release it.

Yes, my 1977 station wagon release lever moves to the left also.

If you remove your grill and slacken the bolts that hold the lock to slam panel this will help you to release it.
If the pin that screws into bonnet too tight it makes it hard to open.
Also best to leave the slam panel bolts slightly slack till your sure it is centred properly.

I put a spade under mine. It pops eventually.
