Hi guys.

Picked up a 2000 TD5 ES last week.
Was doing some servicing today and went to poop the bonnet....... Nothing!

On inspection i found the eyelet on the lock end had failed and left me with a nice amount of cable but no release. Managed to get the bonnet open by accessing through the cover plate underneath the lock and flicking the lever over, but now I need to replace the entire cable. Any suggestions on best way to do this? Or is it just a case of tying some string to one end, pulling it through, and then reversing the process?

Any help much appreciated.

Have also decided to convert to coils (please be gentle) and just wondered what issues the car will have if i drive it before I get the ECU sorted?

Many thanks guys.

Andy

Just push the inner back and remake the end or if the inner needs replacing and the cable outer covering is good and still in place then just slide in a new inner cable.

Well changed the complete cable yesterday, was actually a very easy job.

Simply tie some string to the end of the old one, pull it through, swap string over to the new one and pull it back into position. The only tricky part was hooking it back into the bonnet release lever but after a few minutes lining it up, boom. Done.

I can once again get into the engine room. :D
