does anyone know when this was banned and what the situation is as regards fitting them:confused: can i fit one on a 96 110 defender
also if i can put them on the bonnet can i side mount them on rear side panels:confused:
lastly if i can fit eitrher of the above anyone know where i might aquire such an item(mounting bracket fingy) arer even have them made
cheers

I don't think they actually banned them. I think LR stopped using them on th td5 because the engine is too close too the bonnet and the weight of the wheel meant the bonnet would hit the top of the engine. There is a solution to this but it means loading the CC again. Difflock: Wheels and Tyres

LR list this part number STC7633 and it's described as spare wheel bonnet mounting to 1999 (not TD5)

Mr Davie - I've "invented" a side mounting a-la military wolf consisting of military bracket and a special-invenshun-bracket, specifically for a hard top...

I also have one of the wolf long wing mirror arms going spare (but pricey)

Here's a picture of the ootside - my fabricator can knock one up for you if ye want.

if thats legal id ne after 2 muddy

wolfs (wolves?) have them and theres a fair few of them on the roads, some in civvy ownership - not to mention the innumerable wolf-a-like clones - when the wheel is on it's just a big bit of rubber and when theres no wheel on (which is unlikely) my holder just unbolts.

I spoke with plod and mot chap and the only thing they want is a longer mirror arm and preferably a big yellow reflective sticker on the end of the mirror. They'd also prefer it only mounted offside which it is. The white bit is a genuine landy part mounted in the correct location

It doesn't project as far as the wheelarch eyebrows and as said its better than sheets of glass!!

Anyway here's a fartistic impreshun of the finished Born-Again-Edith-expedition-twin-tank-90...

aye yella, get with the program!

The jerrys are mounted on a fold down tailgate for water - when its down their taps give me running water. 2 shovels lets us dig out faster.

Ye didnt notice I forgot a steering wheel.
