Guys - ... long shot here .... but just wondering if anyone has ever had to adjust the alignment of their bonnet? I notice on my facelift TD4 that the bonnet has a bigger gap on the one side compared to the other side. I've looked on RAVE and it seems there are 4 bolts which should be tightened after bonnet is aligned correctly. So I'm considering loosening the 4 bolts, wiggling it about a little, and then tightening the bolts. Would appreciate input from anyone who has tried this? :fish:

never had any issues with mine, certainly not heard it being a common fault either, unless its been off before and not realigned or has it had a shunt??? trolley dent from a blind women in tescos??

Should imagine its the same as most bonnets - u are right loosen the four bolts but not too much or it will move again when u open it to tighten them up - it that doesent work try pushing the bonnet over when its open & supported - slightly bending the hinges

If it's the height of the bonnet off the wing then theres 2 bolts each side. One is fixed hole. Other has a slot hole. Work out what you want to do (raise or lower) and open bonnet and put on stay thing. Undo bolts on the side that needs adjusted and play, then tighten. Now close bonnet to test. Repeat as needed. Done mine before.

Wow Hippo - you make that sound easy.

It took me about 20 attempts before I got it right, with equal gaps all round.

Up - down - try again.

Don't forget there are also little adjustable rubber buffer things on the slam panel.

Singvogel.

I just had a go and realised when I undid the bolts they moved funny. Worked out what was going on and raised it a bit. Close and checked. Adjusted a bit more then checked and done. Just guess work and keep trying. As long as yer look first with it closed to see whats needed, mark the current place with masking tape so yer don't loose position after undoing the nuts, yer be ok. It's a Freelander. Whats could go wrong...

thanks guys. the best thing about about owning a freelander????

yes i'm talking about the gap between the bonnet and the wing. on the right side its about 5mm, and the left its about 10mm.

will try this ........

Adjusted bolt with slot hole, adjusted rubber buffers, and now looks great. I did notice that the radiator has quite a lot of wobble in it. Hope this is normal??

I wouldn't have thought the rad would wobble. Wind blowing against it at speed would cause it to wobble more and break.
