Here's a quick vid...

Unfortunately its coming off because at 1750rpm it just booms/drones really bad. Such a shame as it sounds great at all other times. He normally sits around that rpm range daily so its got to go.

Had this pop up today so need to look into it. Got codes 119 - Front left sensor (output intermittent) and 134 Shuttle Valve Switch (Electrical Failure).

So had an annoying buzzing noise to the right side of my instrument cluster. Upon looking into it I found out it could be this little temperature sensor...

Absolutely fifthly!

At1h1o0.jpg

Stripped it down for a good clean and lube.

Much better! And the best part the annoying buzzing has gone! Mission complete.

So todays first job was to redo the LPG filter/pipework under the bonnet. I've fabricated a new stainless bracket to mount the new vapour filter. This was fitted with stainless hardware.

JOG4PwS.jpg

I made up new hoses and covered then with black braiding to protect them and sealed each end with heat shrink.

I replaced the old system that had two filters and a massive loop of pipe, very untidy. I now have new pipe, clamps and a 1 into 2 filter.

Next up was to say farewell to the 3 amigos!!

fLUOa2a.jpg

New hub and sensor is needed.

wZvixas.jpg

OEM spec hub with genuine sensor, new bolts and nut also.

Job done, no issues at all. Just need to refit the brakes which were stripped and re greased etc.

UY6CB26.jpg

Also greased my prop etc while I was at it.

Got a few little bits sorted today. First off was the exhaust tip. The original was rusted and looking sorry for itself.

E6WzfzJ.jpg

So I removed the tip and cleaned it up with a buffing wheel then applied ceramic coating to hopefully keep its appearance.

Next up was a bulb change on the climate control unit.

With that all sorted I attached the 6 extra clips to hold in my pollen filter.

Last thing today was a replacement front window regulator. This has caught me out twice now both times in the rain and one time in the dark! Typical :lol1: The issue I had was it would go down past the stop at the bottom and not come back up. The first time it happened I stripped it down and found loose bolts so I re greased it and used thread lock on the bolts. This fixed it up until 2 weeks ago. So a replacement genuine land rover item was bought to say goodbye to this fault for good :wave1:

Mission complete, while I was at it I applied a couple of coats of waxoyl to the inside bottom of the door.

So I cut the tip off the back section I made and made it into a slip on tip for the current backbox. This allows me to try the sound and easily remove it if I don't like it. Happily I do so it will stay. I've also got a center box delete pipe on the way to have a play with. My current system isn't standard and measures 720mm between flanges and the new pipe measures 860mm so I'll have to shorten it by 140mm before I can try it. If I like it happy days but I've got a feeling its going to be very loud because of the size of my rear box. If its too much I have a smaller box from my ST exhaust I can weld in to take the edge off. We will see!

Unfortunately when checking under the bonnet the other day I've noticed a small leak. The throttle body heater plate. This was the only gasket I didn't have when I did the rebuild. I cleaned it all and used silicone which sorted it until now. I've ordered genuine gasket, plate, bolts and a throttle body gasket to fix that.

ZZklsKI.jpg

After a trip out the other day I got home and could smell brakes! Yep my other rear caliper has seized, new one on the way. That will be both rears replaced.

Todays update will end with a couple pics of both of my toys

So got the new rear caliper fitted and bled up.

CieWmUs.jpg

New parts arrived to fix the leak.

Part way through stip down.

dBOCg3q.jpg

Stripped and awaiting a clean.

NUdAlx6.jpg

All fitted and ready to re install with a new throttle body gasket.

JfLyHvC.jpg

Picked up a new center section ready for modifying to fit my current system. The rear flange needs cutting off and moving down 140mm to the straight section then welding back on. This will then be ready to fit for a test run with no center box. If its too much I'll weld in the box pictured to give that a try.

Nice one - before & after sound recordings please - wanna hear that V8 off the leash

Loved the head gasket replacement & sorting all the leaks out pics - I'm gonna get my V8 out this year & give it some much needed TLC - good to know it's achievable to stop all the oil leaks - I can't readily spot where mine ISN'T leaking oil right now so thought it was just a fact of life with these!! I'm losing a bit of water too so fearing the worst when I get the heads off :(

Cheers buddy, I'm sure I'll get a recording or 2!

Yes it's really satisfying knowing it's all been done correctly. No oil leaks at all, bone dry :)

For your water leak check the throttle body plate. Very common.

You're spot on Bone9, deffo losing a bit from the TB plate - will do that first - might give me the courage to pull the lump out!!

Watching your Build log with keen interest matey - will hopefully be treading (slowly!) in your footsteps before long.

So I went to fit and adjust the center box delete pipe but found out it was miles out and wouldn't work so I made my own. Sounds insane, only drove back from work yet so need more time with it to give my true impressions.

Fitted a new battery last week but no pics.

Also just after fitting my battery he started misfiring on LPG, found the problem after swapping some lpg injectors round. Turned out it was a free fix! All the injectors just needed a strip down and clean. Running perfectly again now

I've bought him a present but you'll have to wait to see what it is

I had a Disco2 V8 for 11 years same colour as yours. I absolutely loved it. Love the tail pipe and the NOISE
