Spent all day yesterday cleaning the underneath and exterior ready for the yearly lanoguard treatment.

Upgraded my stereo with a Pioneer sph-evo62dab-uni so now have android auto and apple car play, dab, usb, reversing camera etc. I fitted a new powered DAB aerial in the roof where the factory bung was at the rear. Also fitted a quad lock mount for my phone.

I bought a Stedi amber mini light bar for the rear when camping. I've mad a stainless mount to attach on the 3rd row headrest mounting bolts.

Sorted out my ACE leak by installing a new ram in the front.

Going to fit a new OSF wheel bearing tomorrow.

So I found out I had water ingress into the passenger footwell! It was quite a substantial amount of water. Immediately I stripped the fully sodden carpet out, so that's the seat and centre console out too. The carpet took 1.5 weeks to fully dry out. Once it was all stripped, dried and cleaned I popped out there in the rain the following day to have a look. No rust! Found a leak dripping from up high on the a pillar where multiple panels join together.

Ordered some sikaflex 221 and went to work to strip her down and investigate. Grill, headlight, wing, windscreen side finishers and scuttle panel removed.

So I removed the old sealant from the a pillar top and resealed that.

Next was the corner of the scuttle next to the hinge.

Next was the inner wing/a pillar seam. This required a hole to be drilled into the box section to gain access to the hidden seam.

That's was it for that day, popped it all back together. It rained the next day and still filled the footwell!!! This time it was coming up from the a pillar to floor join inside. The other leak under the dash is fixed.

I also added an addition drain hole in the outside of the a pillar. No pics of this unfortunately but its nice with a cable through grommet installed.

During this I removed my heater fan and gave it a clean out.

The next day I gave it a MASSIVE hose test to see if its fixed. All my repairs have worked really well but the was still a very small trace of water getting in. It looked like it was getting past the door seal at the top and working its was down and to the inside. I've sealed a small section in the top corner where the panels meet in the corner to hopefully stop water getting to the inner of the door seal. I've ordered a new genuine door seal to fit as well. So once that arrives I'll fit and do another hose test. Fingers crossed this cures it!

Great report and photos. I’ve chased some of this on the inside of the A pillars on mine, with some success. I think the top of the windscreen was my main issue. However, further work is on hold while I’m on with the new chassis, so I’ll be referring back to this again later in the year. 👍

Hi, great work you've been doing 👏. The pioneer DAB you fitted, did/can you get patch leads for the steering wheel controls & could you put a pic up of that aerial please ? (I haven't got a bung/hole on the roof of mine). As I'm keen to replace the cheap DAB adapter & screen aerial on mine although I will miss the 6 CD changer, many thanks in advance.

Thanks mate. Glad to be of some help 👍

Hi mate. Yes mine has all the correct patch leads etc to have fully functioning steering wheel controls. I'll get you a pic asap 👍

Hi, just a quickie on your inner wing/A pillar sealing, mine has a draught coming in right by the bonnet release lever, I've taken the kick panel off & carpet back (not had the wing off) but can't see any rust/holes & no water ingress, have you ever have a passenger comment on cold air in the foot well & in your opinion would a gap in that seam cause a draught ? Many thanks.

Hi. I've had no comment about a draft in that area. I'll ask someone to check next time there with me.

I very much doubt that a draft would come from a seam. It must be from somewhere else.

Thanks for that, I think I'll have to take the wing off some time just to have a look (not a problem in the warmer weather of course) or I don't let the wife be a passenger as my terrier has never complained :):):), all the best.

Been working on my rear switch pod for camping. The centre switch just turns on the illumination for the genuine carling switches. I've used 1.5mm trailer cable to run to my fuse box and rear quarter. I added a nylon braid and heat shrink to this to make it look cool and to give it some protection. All the crimps are heat shrink crimps also. I've installed my Stedi rear camp light inside for now until I get a roof rack.

My coolant bottle decided to crack so an upgrade had to be done. I've installed the BMW expansion tank with level sensor. I've also removed the throttle body heater as It developed a leak again!!

I've ran an 8mm silicone hose from the lower inlet manifold that has a braided sleeve to prevent rubbing damage to a t piece connected to the rad top return hose.

I've made a bracket for the main lower hose on the expansion tank to stop it rubbing on my shock tower. This is made from stainless steel and using a genuine land rover D1 hose clip.

The alarm is now fully installed (not pictured) and connected to trigger the transmission temp warning on the dash.

The road test was perfect with the BMW sensor, no false readings 👍

Today I fitted a new condenser and receiver/dryer. Must of had a slight leak as only had 200 of refrigerant instead of 700. All sorted now and extremely cold AC :D

So I've been busy and removed my LPG system as my local garage has put the price up to £1.29 per litre!! It's now cheaper to run on premium unleaded and less hassle. It's never been 100% anyway and I'm relieved to have it off. No more stressing about fuel trims etc. The landy drives so much nicer, faster and better on petrol without it so happy days. My mission now is to completely remove all traces of it ever being there. So far I've removed the tanks and all gas lines. filters and the reducer etc. Put the wiring loom back to stock and acquired another upper plenum to remove the nozzles. This has just come back from powder coating! What do you think?
