When I done mine I have to lengthen the shaft using the bit where the bolts are that aren't meant to come undone. I took those out and used normal bolts, there's a lip on the very end of the shaft that stops it sliding out I filed that lip off and slid in out a bit further and that was enough if you can understand that lol

It does make sense :) was sort of thinking the same thing earlier but wasnt sure as to whether there would be enough spline left if you know what i mean lol
How long have you been running your lift?

About six months now and it's been fine you need to slide it out of the bit where the security screws are though. I tried it on the spline part and they was just too loose

Ah those screws i aint touching as there supposed to break in the event of an accident so you dont get impaled by your steering shaft. Will come up witb something. i hope

when we did mine 2" body lift we just undone all the steering ujs and allowed shaft to move and then tightened them all bk up ive had no probs

Tis the same as what i did except mine seems too short? :(

if ya want rob I can pop out sometime with mine and we can compare/have a look and generally drink coffee and scratch heads if ya like :)

Can do mate the kettle is always on here;) probably spend more time brewing up and smoking than anything else:tea::p plus i wouldn't mind seeing your disco in the flesh :)

ayup mate, did you have any joy with the steering shaft, ive just done a 2 inch lift on mine and its about 10mm too short its started on the spline just not enough:mad:, too start with i just slackened off the bolts but it was stretching the rubber donut thingy, any help will be much appreciated cheers :)

not sure what the OP found, but when i did mine after abit of investigation there are 2 tyopes of steering shaft, ones is longer than the other..(cant see pics to tell you if its wrong one as im at work)

thanks, do you no if both shafts were off a disco or was one off anther land rover like a defender, i hope there is an easy solution because i dont want to mess about with spacing the shaft in one way or another would be nice to just fit a longer splined uj, cheers rob

i think it was from a disco, just had a look on ma phone, thats a round one (short one) the one i have is more angular almost diamond shape, il try to remember to take a pic tomoz
