Hi everyone, can a body control module thats allready been fitted to a landy be easily re-programmed to work on another landy? mine died and has been at a garage 7 weeks now and they said they got a second hand 1 but cant get it to work on mine and theyve had to send it away to be onlocked. dunno if there spinning me a line or if its true? thanks
 
The used BCU must be "sync'ed" with the existing ECM on the car. They have to put the BCU on, then use proper dedicated tester to sync it with the IDM/instrument pack and ECM.... That's all, sending it away will not solve the problem cos it must comunicate with the car's systems to be unlocked.

thanks. main dealer havnt got any in stock and they are on back order until god knows when. i managed to find 1 from doncaster country vehicles but it turned out to be locked or used either way they said it wouldnt work. so simon services said they sent the original dead 1 and the replacement 1 to a bloke in oxford to be unlocked ( a virgin unit is the words he used ) apparently the bloke in oxford hasnt got the software to crack it so he has had to order new software to do it. Can you smell summet?

Doesnt sound right to me !.

I,ve seen these BCU,s changed over, and up and running in minutes.

well its took them 7 weeks and its still not running! gotta be summet fekkin wrong. arnt simon services ment to know there stuff? fekkin hope so there a landrover repair centre! or r they just spinning me a fekkin line

+1 ^^^ get the second hand BCU and find somebody with nanocom or hawkeye then up you go...as Del said it's a few minutes job...unless they didnt missdiagnose it and the trouble is something else...:scratching_chin:
 
1 day had to disconnect battery, put it back on and the thing was dead, no central locking, everything the bcu controlled didnt work, went to start it and nothing just a loud chime for about 20seconds and a symbol flashing next to mileage on instrument panel
 
The BCU lost syncronization for some reason then.... only thing u must have done then was to plug in a tester and resync it.
 
Kin hell.. its a fekkin joke this. Why the **** have they sent it away to be unlocked when its not gunna solve it. they said original bcu has had a repair at some point. Cant believe its just a plug n play thing.. Well i can coz surely changing 1 of these dosnt take fekkin 7 weeks!. cheers lads
 
Anybody near wakefield with suitable software that cud go up and sort it at there yard,? if i can get the bcu back from other side of fekkin world

I have just had it comfirmed by a very knowledgeable chap, that it is as we have said, just a case of a few minutes to phisically swap the unit, and then getting it " programmed " to the car.

Right so either there lying to me or they havnt got a clue what there on with. cheers
 
i did drive down there unexpected and it was sat in the yard with about 20 other landrovers that look like they have been there since god was a lad. sez it all really

You dont need specialist software if the BCU is not locked out, well thats assuming it is. When disconnecting a BCU the vehicle alarm / immobiliser must be disarmed other wise it will "lock" out the BCU. This is one of the problems of buying A) a used one and B) from somewhere that dont know about this issue and just "pull" them from vehicles.

Programming a second hand BCU with Nanocom takes 5-10 mins max.
