I obviously missed the significance of the ardnut connection - mind you - i try very hard to miss anything to do with ardnut :D

Morning all
Talk about tangential thinking, next someone will suggest that I could torque down the head bolts by holding the wrench and rotating the Landy.:D

Of course I could bore out the housing in on of the following ways.

Lath
With a internal tool bit or large drill or reamer or honing.
Pillar drill
with large drill or reamer or honing.
Vertical Mill
with Large drill bit or internal trepanning tool or reamer or honing or large side cut tool.
Bench
with file or reamer or hand drill or honing.
Ultrasonic drill
Laser
Hi pressure water cutter
Plasma cutter

But my preferred method
Is to spend 10 mins with a junior hacksaw to remove the skirt (always my favorite tools and skirt's :D ).

Thanks again

yu sed bodge or mod :D

bodge is hacksaw on thermostat.
mod wud be to machine the head so it takes the later thermostat.

If you modified the head - it would save having this dilemma in future and if uvva peeps read this thread with the head orf - they cud have it modified whilst still relatively easy to do - yes?

if it aint too late to measure the diff sizes - they wud be usefull to know, so that if anyone goes down the head mod route, they know wot dims to have the thermo housing machined to.

Hello there i have bought all new parts for my series 3 from land rover and they are so cheap including the thermostat i bought. i dont rate paddocks much on parts

As I was pottering around in me workshop I found the bit I cut off the thermostat to make it fit.
See pic.
The thermostat now sits flush in the housing and works just fine.
