I’m going to use a Bluetooth speaker in my 90 as I can’t be bothered to fit a stereo. Does anyone else use one and can advise what to get? I would like to be able to use it whilst driving (haha) so needs to have a bit of oomph and has to have hands free function. And fit in the dash.

There are few on here who have done exactly that - sure they'll be along shortly.

That’s actually a pretty good idea ! I’d never thought of using a Bluetooth speaker. It means you could obviously stream music from your phone or device which would be great.

Still got to wire it up to charge it.

So fit a radio.

Any decent one that will give you good sound, needed volume in a Def will cost your more than a normal car set up. Its not hard and doesnt take long!

Can see the appeal though...

I do, I use a jbl flip, not the new modern massive one but one a couple years old and about the size of a coke can.

Hands free and 8 hrs battery life - although I have it plugged in all the time - it’s just goes in the fag lighter socket.

Could wire a radio but a) I want to keep my poverty spec interior b) don’t want to loose the NATO lightswitch in the middle c) do t want the faff of running wires all over the place - Bluetooth kept it simple for me, and I use the speaker not in the LR to and D) I mainly stream from Spotify or internet radio

Same here and it sits nicely in the cup holder and does a good job of drowning out the typical Fender noises

It would just plug into the cigarette socket via a USB to charge up and then chuck it in the dashboard storage. That would take literally one minute. And also it would need a decent stereo/speakers as it’s ridiculously noisy when going any faster than walking pace on a flat surface.

Is it audible when your driving? The latest JBL ones I looked at don’t have hands free or I was going to get one

I also use a JBL Flip 3 se. It sits in a cradle on top of my raptor binnacle. It isn’t hands free for calls but that’s fine cuz I don’t want to talk to people on the phone when I’m driving at all. It sounds fine day to day but at motorway speeds, the truck is just too noisy. To be fair though, a normal installed stereo would have to be turned up so loud to hear it over the engine etc that it would be unpleasant at best due to the sh@t acoustics of a tratter!
Incidentally, I have NO insulation / deadening in my Ninety.

ha ! I tried my dewalt site radio when driving on the motorway and it had to be so loud that it would cause hearing damage.

I tried a Bluetooth speaker in my series 3. I wanted one that could easily be removed and found one on eBay that could receive Bluetooth from my phone or iPad, had a 3 mm socket and a sd card slot, it also could receive fm radio so all eventualities were covered. The only problem was I had to have it so loud that it was embarrassing every time I pulled up at traffic lights etc. I've tried everything from a car stereo to the Bluetooth speaker to a portable DAB radio and the lack of decent sound proofing overcomes them all. I just listen to the landy noises now.

this is the cradle I made for mine. It’s just a piece of 3” tube, cut along it’s length to make the cradle. It’s bolted to the raptor binacle and has some self adhesive foam to keep the speaker comfortable.

The speaker is held in place by a couple of my daughters hair bobbles!

I have a few circuits that are constant 12v. The worst one was the light in the back. Not such a worry now it’s an led!
Removing that sticker may become today’s entry in the ‘what have you done today’ thread.......:D
