Hi,

Recently fitted a new 'Ring' dual horn, activated from the original horn through a relay.

Horn works fine at stand still and on tick over, however after driving for around 1/2 mile the fuse on the supply to the relay blows!

There must be a surge which is blowing the fuse, I have wired to the feed to the fuse box and also directly to the battery, same result.

Any ideas?

Steve

Most horns have a permanent 12v supply and it is the earth wire that is switched to sound the horn. You probably have a chaffed supply wire that is shorting to the chassis through vibration while driving, this will cause fuse to blow.

+1 the switch on the horn switches the earth.

Fuse is shorting out along the line somewhere, check all wiring for any nics that could be touching any metal of the vehicle.
