didn’t think that l’d achieved much this weekend but after taking some photos it appears that I’ve done quite well and crossed off a number of jobs of the list. First was to fit the aecond hand genuine rad with an electric cooling fan, then I made some new water pipes out of copper and sprayed them black along with making a stainless bracket to support them off the rocker cover bolt. Then I fitted the air cleaner along with a new filter and new hose (then realised when I was throwing the old hose out that there was a coil spring fitted inside to stop the hose from collapsing when air was being drawin through! Every days a school day hey ! 👋 as I couldn’t find any new clips for the air filter housing I searched the internet and came accross some JCB clips that were very similar. I I decided to gamble a few quid and purchased a set of four from ebay, some slight modifications made and they fitted perfectly. I then degreased cleaned and fitted the power steering reservoir albeit its a newer plastic type rather that the original ugly steel can one. I then decided to take apart the dash clocks, stripped the speedo and rebuilt with some parts from a second hand one, adjusted the milage to correspond with the miles that the engine had done (22k) worked it out with Turners reciept for the engine and MOT history and its ready to be put back together. Job for tomorrow me thinks …

Bet your all thinking how I made the stainless bracket with the curves to sit the pipes in ? Hay ?? Well I welded 2 x 16mm bolts to my vice a bolts width apart, then placed a third bolt behind he stainless in between the two welded bolts and closed the vice and hey presto ….

What type of copper did you use, I'm sure normal house copper can get stress fractures, from constant vibration.

Back in the garage and away from the drawing board, for £20 a length next day delivered from BES plumbing I’ve got some 15mm 1mm wall 316 stainless steel seamless pipe, now lets see how it bends using my record plumbing bender !

Well the proof is In the eating or in this case drooling 😂 out with the copper and in with the stainless.
Fitted some brass olives each end to stop the hose clamps from pulling off. Looking rather good if I do say so myself.
Only haste was that I had to cut the compression nut off after fitting the olives.

Exmoor black anodized billet ali hinges arrived today and they certainly don’t disappoint. I dout I could get a gnats eye lash inbetween the bushes they are that tightly made. Clock surrounds painted and fitted back into the dash, just waiting for a new rhs wiper stalk to arrive.
Decided to paint the galvanised rad holding brackets and the slam panel bars black so not to stand out, then hung them out to dry…. Better get them in just in case Mrs Hughes doesnt put them in the tumble drier later 😂

Glad you're back at it, I thought you had got board and given up.
I was about to make you an offer for it...a half eaten curly wurly and a packet of ready salted crisps (out of date)
Glad your knee is sorted.
