hi all
About a year ago I got the headliner in my 01 v8 disco recovered. I resealed the sunroof, blowed air through the drains etc, and sure enough the sunroofs still leaked afterwards. The drivers rear drain tube isn't clearing the water properly, and what ever I tried to put through it, it won't run freely.

Does anyone have experience of replacing the tubing? I want to do this before getting a new headliner. But it doesn't seem obvious.
Its been sat for a year now.
Its going to need to be MOT'd, and as well as new headliner, i need to fix the wipers not returning to park, and few other bit's before taking it for one.

Stop water leaking past the glass seal and u wont need to do anything to the drains, unless u tilt the glass with water already laying on top which will then run forward and into each drain.
 
Hi I have just repaired mine, I needed to replace my headliner as it was soaked and falling down, I found the rear sunroof seal out at the corners and the sunroof at the front had no seal between it and the roof
I removed the rear glass from inside as the glass surround was solid, I removed the seal it was not glued down and cleaned it all out then whipped it with nail varnish remover to de grease it.
I used,

a decent bead along the bottom of the seal grove , when you put the seal in pull it towards the corners to prevent it lifting/pulling out of the corner, hold for a few minutes then put the glass back and wind it down tight to hold the seal in place

the front was harder as I had to remove the complete roof mounting and cleaned off the remains of the old sealant , as I need to strip it down as the glass did not go back as the winding system had never worked, I cleaned out the seal grove and degreased it, and fixed the winding system, replaced the glass, the a decent bead on the underside of the roof mount and put it back aas full unit,
the inside of the sun roof if you look at the corner were the tubes are they have a gape I filled it in with a bit of plastic I had lying around

I also tie wrapped the drain tubes onto the inside frame and ran a full silicone seal around the inside of the roof and sunroof mount, I then put the hosepipe on the roof and give it a good soaking and had no water in I could see I have also read that if its the carpet getting wet, that's a build up of water in the bottom of the 'A' post and it caused by the opening at the bottom of the post blocked by mud, I cleaned mine out and I did check the that I can blow down the drains and poured water down it came out after I had cleaned it

I've no idea why i thought those drains were supposed to clear that much water!!
I did re silicon the sunroof assembly when i put it back in. But i remember it slipping and sliding, and then the next day i just went ahead and put the headliner in.
I'll have it out again and do a proper job :)

Frosty, you mind me asking were you got the replacement headliner?
 
Think i'm just going to go for a different approach.
I've ordered a new wiper motor, and shuttle valve, to try and get it closer to passing its MOT.
Then i'm going to drive it to a pro to get a manufactured one.
The old one had expanded from the amount of water it had had over the years, and now after being sat for a year has got moldy!

All i have to do is figure out where that spare wire on the front interior light wiring went. Since reinstalling it the interior lights haven't worked which i think is a MOT fail also!

I dont think the interior light will fail an MOT, but it only has 2 wire power and earth
but all you need to do is all the garage and ask

Shuttle valve seems to have cleared the 3 amigos for now.
If anyone wants to do it. The Atlantic British vid is the best one to watch as it gives you the confidence to just bend the abs pipes to get to it.
Also replaced a door which had a dent, and busted window motor. See in going to get it mot'd and see about whatever Bush is gone, and I think the chasis will need a patch.
The hardest thing so far was when I cleared down my tools from the boot of my jaguar str, and slammed it shut with the key in there. Lock Smith picked the door lock in about 5 minutes. But i then spent the next 2 hours taking the back seats in to get through into the boot..... ffs

I'm quite excited about getting it on the road again. I've put a new battery in it, and it's running pretty well. Also got some magnecore ignition cables I'll put on either pre or post mot when I have time to get to the coils.
