Having just weaved my way up the M6 I decided I needed door mirrors with a blind spot feature, originally I didn’t want to just stick one of those cheap ones to my existing mirrors so I went on the net and a number of suppliers do a mirror with a blind spot feature. However as the mirrors are larger there’s a few comments that are saying the ones they brought weren’t up to the additional buffering that the larger head gets, as all modern vehicles have these type of mirrors there must be a manufacture that make one fit for purpose, I know that Britax were a quality mirror manufacture but can’t find and info on what I’m looking for.
Can any one advise me as to where I can by a decent mirror or is it back to plan B and just stick a cheap one to my existing mirrors. My Defender is a 1998tdi if that makes and difference. Any help would be most appreciated.

I ran the larger heads on my 90 for over 10-years without any problems and found them to give unbeatable vision in all situations. I could never understand when people said theirs would droop at speed, if they don't stay in position with the clamp tightened up then just add something to add a bit of friction to the ball-joint. I also added heating elements which was a cheap, quick and very effective modification.
Not certain if Britax are still making them but certainly mine were branded Unitruck and were identical fitting straight onto the original arms.

I later changed to the unbreakable (heated) type and although slightly smaller, due to the design they still give an excellent field of vision. If they have a downside it is that they can provide a "ghost" image at night (similar to an anti-dazzle rear view mirror), I found this strange at first but having lived with them for 9-years now I don't give it a thought.

First couple of photos are of the old (larger) mirrors, third shows the "unbreakable" ones currently fitted.

Thanks for that Litch, I’ve just looked on the Unitruck web site and it looks like there’re a quality product, I’ll check their range out.

Where the heated ones the spafax vm2's?
I've been searching for somewhere to buy them

Yes, they are Spafax.
Just done a quick search and they appear to be available from various suppliers.
Any specific reason why you want the VM2 and not the VM3? They appear to be the same but with a different EC class (whatever that is), looking at the writing cast into the plastic body I would say that mine are probably VM3.

Available as a Bearmach part, BR1914U (unheated) and BR1914UH (heated).
