Hello,

Any one who has been following my recent posts about my 200tdi burning oil on start up will probably be well aware that I have tried numerous things to fix the problem:

- New Valve Guide Oil Seals
- Replacement Turbo (old one was passing oil)
- Cleaned out intercooler and intake system
- Cleaned oil catch tank and cyclone breather

And the thing is still bloody doing it. Well, I believe I may have found the problem. I have noticed my oil creeping up over the last week or so, and yesterday, it shot up dramatically. My oil doesn't smell of diesel as such, but it looks like my third lift pump this year has decided to start ****ing diesel into my block AGAIN! The first one that I fitted did this, and the second one packed in completely, shearing the cam lever from the pivot. The 'thinned' diesel will be finding its way down the valves and back up past the rings which is burning off on startup.

Looks like I'll be fitting another one tomorrow (all being well) as well as an oil change which I am hoping will combat the problem! They've all been Delphi pumps, so I'm pretty surprised at their shoddy quality.

I'll let y'all know what happens.

any news on this? im starting to think it may be the lift pump on mine playing up but if you have been having trouble with one make maybe its one to avoid?

did it only smoke on start up as mine is fine after about 20 seconds. maybe it is my timing but if it was would it not smoke all the time?

It was only on startup yes. Plumes of blue and gray smoke which cleard once i gave the engine some load. Without load, but with revs it would continue until the engine started to warm up. Very strange. It's worth checking.
