Boiled linseed oil works well and is very cheap....

Needs very, very little - dont slap it on too thickly.

If you use linseed oil make sure you put the cloths you use in a bucket of water overnight as it can ignite the cloth.

Spray them gloss black and then laquer aslong as it has been rubbed down and prepare properly

I have done mine with linseed oil a few times and they stay black and look nice for nearly three months then after that they still have a bit of shine on them.

Gtechniq C4 trim restorer. This stuff is permanent and works. Not cheap at around £25 quid, but it is well worth it.

is there not a danger of the boiled linseed oil igniting when its on the car as ive read it can ignite its self?
