Hi all as most know i bought a discovery 2 .around a month ago . Ive been having a smell in the rear of damp .after finding a rear sunroof leaking .i went to remove the rear carpet .seats and covers .for cleaning when i came accross a bag .as i opened it theres a ecu and a green box (after searching type its for a td5 manual ...wasnt 100percent what it was therefor. I assumed it was from my vechical .but part number refers to manual .as mines auto .after asking a few others about it.
Ive found it started another vechical....was a bit susprized tbh . Thing is i assume shouldnt end up in the wrong hands .
What should i do ..im personaly thinking distroy it ..??

If you don't want it getting in to the wrong hands then sell them separate.

It will be a matched ecu and 10as unit that have had the immobilizer removed back to poverty spec. Hence starting any vehicle with out the need for a key fob ect...

Give Gary a call at Alive Tuning. He services and refurbs ECUs so may buy it off you and it wont end up in a pikey scrotes hands.

It may not be,it could have been set as having non robust immobilisation when first used.Or it could have had the immobilisation function removed by an ECU exchange company who often do this so owners can sub over a replacement to test on their own car without needing diagnostic gear to synch it.
Either way there is no need to destroy several hundred pounds worth of ecu...
