Hi all,

Quick one to brighten up a dark and dank Thursday morning. I noticed last night that under hard acceleration i.e. when pulling hard up hill, there comes from the v8 3.9 engine a noise that I can only describe as chirping and peeping. Sounds like I've run through a flock of sparrows or something. I only get it over about 3,000 rpm and only when it is trying hard. It's not over loud and does not drown out the sound of the engine, it's very background noise but is there non the less.

Any ideas?

Thanks as always,
Duncan

The air intake pipe is buckling under duress of the increased air flow which is causing the reinforcing wire to rub against the alternator when it moves. Just a guess!

Serpentine belt or pully/s or tensioner wear will give the chirping sound you discribe. When was you belt last changed?.

To be very honest, I'm not sure. Haven't have the disco long. I'd planned to change and update parts as I went and had all intentions of doing a fair bit of work on it. Seems a good running project though. Is this a simple enough at home job?

Thanks for the reply.
