I have a 2000 diesel disco automatic TD5 on a W reg. I like everything about it with the obvious exception of the fuel costs. I'm thinking about buying a processor to convert waste veg oil to bio diesel. It all sounds too good to be true so it probably is. My question is firstly can my vehicle run on biodiesel and if so what mods would I need to carry out.
Secondly, has anyone done it with a similar age disco. Any help or guidance would be gratefully received.

Mine ('99 TD5) runs happily on up to 50% biodiesel, although I normally keep it on 30% or less. No mods required. DO NOT run it on ordinary veg oil though - you must produce proper biodiesel to the proper commercial standard. Check your fuel filter after a few thousand miles. You should get better performance/fuel consumption.
If you have any doubts it's worth bearing in mind that the TD5 can be a very expensive motor to repair - is it worth the risk for the small cost saving? If you bought it recently then using bio may void any warranty you may have been canny enough to squeeze out of the seller. The best way to save costs is to drive slower - 60mph on cruise control should give you a 50% cost saving.
