Got a 300tdi and was thinking about buying bio diesel due to getting it at £1 a L it will save me a bit of money but that's not a great issue but a bonus!!

whats your experience or advice on this as i have herd good and bad about this fuel and i have also herd landys run well on it.

Make sure it is liquid,dry and filtered to at least 10 microns,5 microns is even better.

Well i was thinking of mixing it 50/50 to start with and in winter 50 diesel 45 veg oil and 5 petrol to thin it out abit but for that id have to do maths, although i was going to look at the dual tank and for the diesel see where i could fit a small 10L tank.

for filtering it its getting filtered at 5 microns defiantly with the filters in car being 10 microns but if i cant do the dual tank system ill put a heater in the tank to keep it liquid with a second battery in the boot wire up to the alternator i couldn't imagine it dieing

Hello buddy, I run a 200tdi on waste veg but with a 2 tank set up. I filter mine down to 1 micron and run it through a water removal filter too. It runs really well on the oil but I wouldn't advise a single tank set up you might do some serious damage with the cold starts.

where are you going to get this waste oil from? how will you separate the liquid (if there is any) from the more sloppy/solid stuff.

you need to do a lot more research.

how are you going to keep the fuel lines warm?

everything you are trying to do has been done before, learn from others mistakes, go to the link i posted above, there is also a forum there, they know what they are doing, ask their advise and follow it.

I helped somebody with a frontera that was running on bio and he was having problems.once the chips and batter was out the fuel lines it sort of run until the injection pump died.
I'm glad he moved away.....

I take it you mean WVO ? bio won't have any bits in it due to the processing

that's not bio then its wvo (waste vegetable oil)/uco (used cooking oil),

and if he did not filter it properly then it will cause problems. Too many people think you can pour any old **** in the tank but its not like that, you don't get anything for nothing you have to put some work in to it and done properly you won't get any problems, its not the fuels fault its the idiot pouring it in.

I changed the injection pump for him a nd took the old one at his request to droitwich diesels to see if anything could be done
Explaining the situation,the chap said " well that's ####ed then" and then chucked it in the scrap.
As I say,I'm glad he moved away...

Must remember to use them next time i need a detailed analysis done on an injection system.

It was probably just the front seal gone, £5 and 10 mins work,

Filter it and remove the moisture from it. Pieces of chips and fish batter raise hell with the pump/injectors:jaw:
