I thought about a roof rack, but I tried it once, I think it's quiet a pain to get the bike up and down from the roof. That migt be good for a Passat/Audi Station Wagon but I think not for a FL1. I think i'll have alook around for a towbar rack.

Just read the Thule ones would be foldable. Are others suggested foldable as well or are they foldable in general?

I made this from an old chair, the finished article has hooks on to put a ratchet strap around the wheel and hold it on. It works really well

do not for get if you are putting a bike rack on you must be able to see your number plate in the uk or put a number plate on the back

in Portugal you need to run with this plate on the back


I went for the simple approach on my DIY

Yep, thanks completely forgot that. Where do i get one from? Must i go for dvla or can I buy somewhere else? Thought about colour printing one and stick it on, laminated perhaps.

Most garages or motor factors can arrange for them to be done. You need a 'real' one to be legal.
