had a day out at tong today its a 1990 200tdi mated to an r380,let me mate have a go,sank it in thick mud,it came upto above the seats,engines now taping oil light comes on at idel then goes out when revved and total loss of drive,still got a pedal,goes into gear just wont move any ideas

engines knackered ,clutch is probably full of mud ,as are the axles and boxes

I would drain the fluids, engine, box and transfer box if y I have not got any extended breathers on it.
Engine tapping could only mean that water/mud has got in if the only thing that has happened is that it was drowned. Font timing cover should have a wading plug in it at the bottom.
No drive is probably due to the clutch assembly and bell housing getting wet through with crap if there are no wading plugs in.

yeah but at least its still clunking like it should, lol
no it wasent there lol,if ur at the entrance to enter tong,far bottem right corner,up the big hill at the top on the left of the hil there are t parrelel little tracks that are a puddle then a little hill,the one my mate drove in truned out to be more than a puddel,the stuff is like silt,it was in higher than the fuse box,droped the fluids on the tbox and gear box gearbox was abit brown,tbox was like tar running out of it,guna whip the box out and go from there,worsed case senario is a engine and box transplant from the rotten one ive got,and thinkin about it all the marshels were takin pics,so im sure one will end up on the web somewhere

sounds like it cos theyv started to close that lane off, even CCV's couldnt get through there
yup thats the one mine ended up a little further in,my mate took the turn before i new it he hit the brakes then that was its fate sealed,there wasnt one thing to indicate it was going to be tricky let alone a swamp,its not just like water, the stuff was like tar
