thing is mine drives as normal in some ways, The actual bite point of the clutch(where you drive away) is in a normal position (towards the top of the travel) so you are creeping and you let the clutch up, the creeping stays at the same level all the way to the top where the proper biting point is. If it was a problem where the clutch wasn't releasing properly i would expect the bite point to be very low down. Ive just driven it down the drive. stopped engine, selected 1st, driven forward (fast) and managed to get it into 2nd, then 3rd. I might add it was very tough to get them in.
 
may be waaaayyy off the mark, but I had a similar problem on a mini, years ago. eventually found that I'd fitted the clutch plate the wrong way round (as shown in the Paynes Manwell though)!

I asked if you had put a new clutch in, the problem you are having does very much sound like a pressure plate problem.
 
Ive found a gearbox place willing to take the gearbox etc off to see if they can find whats wrong. he says its the best way to get to the clutch, 250 notes its not to be sniffed at imo. He also reckons pilot bearing as he says it causes the fault sometimes. Either way he should be able to trace the fault and i don't have to get filthy again. so hopefully i will have some news in a week or so. Ive also took a couple of pics of the beast, ill post them in the next couple of days.

i recon its got to be a pressure plate fault, wrong way round or just faulty, pilot/spigot bearing will cause clutch spin, hard to get into rgears, crunching into reverse but i wouldnt have thought it could be bad enough to cause the vehicle to creap, my bets is the clutch is dragging. keep us informed please of what you find!
