Commercial tyres are rated for carrying weight they have thicker sidewalls, so was wondering if all terrains are strong enough? mind you i dont carry much weight just my tools really

Legal yes. But not recommended as most 4x4 tyres are a lot softer. Look up the load rating on the BFG's. As I say, I wouldn't do it personally.

the tyres would need to be rated to the weight carrying capacity of the van, regardless of what weight the van is carrying

Well they get fitted to 130's which must be a good 2 ton+ before ay load / towing.
I really couldn't see it being as issue?

The 130 has a MGW of 3500kg, the same as almost all Transits, so as long as they are rated for the correct load, they are legal.

go and buy a caravan they ask what tow car you have they will only sell you a caravan to match tell them you have a transit you can buy what you want.

:D
that dont worry the pikeys round here with there transits..
thb, lots have bloody vauxhall vans now wtf is that all about ??

because the new transits are ****e??? just a thought or it could be that the engine is the same as a puma engine so they are worried about them getting nicked ;)

Used to have an old Tranny with Town and Country tyres on the rear.
With a bit of weight in the back, it was amazing where that thing would go off road.

agree trew, had an old V4 ex london transport swb side loading door van
that too had T & Countries on the back, used it for mobile mechanics for a time & used it as a tow vehicle for me bangers and stock cars,
and some of the track pits were "the pits" too - tyres dragged us all up through it all too.

Most transits and I fact most light goods vans are only rated to 3200kgs, they really are not made for heavy weight just bulk...

yer vans aren't meant to carry really heavy loads, thats what trucks are for :) I cant see why you would have a problem. Good 4x4 tyres generally have a good sidewall and carcass to withstand off road use.

They are light truck tyres and have a load rating in the info box on them. even P rated tyres have a load rating on they
