Managed to get severe fade so bad I could not stop at a traffic calming.

Long steep hill with 20 limit and cameras so could not pulse them like normal.

First time I have ever had unstoppable fade on an all disc car.

So what pads and or discs should I get?

I know I should have gone low ratio but not easy to swap ranges in towns.
 
I've never had any issues with the genuine LR pads and discs despite some rather steep descents up here in the Lakes.

Are you sure you dont have some air in the system? ...and when was the fluid replaced last time?

why low box? do you use 2 and 3 on the stick
 
Im running standard Bearmach discs, and Terrafirma SFP500130TF Ceramic pads, which I only seem to have found on ebay, fast delivery either way. And I have no problem "locking up" the brakes on dry tarmac if I really want to. Also has all new calipers and stainless flexi's. But that combo seems to be the best I've used.
 
I've never had a problem with holding a speed down when descending, just drop down a gear and if that doesn't slow you down enough, then drop down to the next gear.
There's nothing written anywhere that says you MUST drive in the highest possible gear at all times.
I would be getting the brake fluid changed though, fluid is hygroscopic, that is it can absorb moisture from the atmosphere and if there's any moisture in it, that can boil and cause compressible bubbles as the brakes heat up which can feel like brake fade.
 
Id also vote for the brake fluid having boiled and now needing replacing. I had brake fade in a d1 once going down Porlock Hill with a trailer behind, to the extent when i stopped at the bottom of it there was smoke pouring off the pads. However once the glaze had worn off the pads a few miles (of normal driving) later, all was fine again
