Hello all

just wondering what would be the best way to spot a leak. now i know your probably thinking "easy.. just look for the drip" but this thing is dripping everywhere! its all over the sump, the gear box, the tranny box, the chassis, the front prop shaft, the front axle!!!! the puddle gets bigger every morning.. nice!

main question is how can i spot where the leak is coming from when its near impossible to find :S

oh its not my 90 its dads disco! my 90 doesn't have a single leak... magic i know, very hard to believe

Engine cleaner, give it a damn good scrub and THEN look for the drip.

If it's hitting the front prop it will get thrown everywhere......but....... I'd guess oil filter housing, sump gasket or front crank seal

sounds like someone will be spending alot of time on there back haha

i wasn't expecting a reply till tomorrow.. GET TO BED! haha

Or do what i done - get it stuck in a ford for an hour - ok you have to change all the oils bla-bla-bla but at least its looking lovely underthere now - just needs a little waxoil and back to normal haha

Always helps if you can figure out what it is that is leaking - I thought mine was leaking oil and it turned out to be diesel, by the time it had run down the block it was pretty much the same colour and consistency.

i had a leak from the lift pump on my now deceased disco. threw fluids out like a mad womans s**t. see what needs topping up if your oils a good then the chances are its diesel, prob from your injectors washers. it it is oil then steam clean the engine and take a good look

I had a disco for 17 years and it leaked oil from day-one, I got used to having a large drip-tray in the garage. I changed it last month for a 90 and haven't seen a spot on the garage floor since.

You changed a drip tray for a 90?

Di you not consider this a little excessive?:D

I'd be refilling engine, gearbox, transferbox, diffs, swivels, power steering oils PDQ:eek::eek::eek:

If you have access to a ramp or forklift lift it up and
steam clean it right off. Refill all oils and see where it is coming from
If something us low on oil like the transfer box it will
be hot on the outside. So maybe try that. One assumes the
leak is near the front if it is all the way down the car. Either
that or their is more than one leak. Try putting some cardboard
under it when it is parked up the oil or diesel drips onto it and it's easier
to tell what it is and where it's coming from then
