So got my old 110 going still had to do an emergency stop other morning, and slid a bit further than I'd like... Then realised it's winter again...... :(

So bearing in mind that I have got to do a 16% hill up and down in the morning and eve twice a day, faced with narrow lanes filled with boy racers on slicks, and the odd "I can't get any closer to the hedge.... Madam I am stood between your car and the hedge" type drivers :D

Road rage over.....sorry about that!

I embarked on an Internet search to find the most suitable tyre... I now feel even more lost!

General consensus is the general at grabbers are okish

Mt is pointless unless in slush or fresh snow

What I'm worried about more than anything is sliding into a car, with the bull bars etc I recon I would kill someone outright.

Contoller is better than stopping power I'd rather hedge it than hit someone else

we have kl71 kumhos on our works landy great in the snow, some fowk say they don't last but they have been on there for over three and a half years and still have loads of tread left and do a lot of road mileage with it too
 
I've got Pirelli Scorpion Snow + Ice on my Disco 2, and I'm very happy with their winter performance around here in Switzerland.
 
Avon ice touring were a brilliant transformation to my fwd van.looked like normal road tyres but climbed killhope summit like a Himalayan sherpa. Not sure what sizes they do.
I liked my Goodyear atr on rrc but I think the tread pattern did the traction as apposed to silica compound
 
Awsome link thanks, did some more youtube searching then some good old fashioned asking of people... Still not sure but have come to the conclusion that whatever tyre I decide on Will have the alpine snowflake symbol.

Might have a look and see if general do a winter tyre, will also look into the coper and pirelli to see what the reviews are like

Has anyone else tried winter tyres? Or just us 4 lol :director::director:
 
Up here they general consensus is you couldn't beat a Subaru brat in snow with any land rover. The disco3 tech onwards probably changed that

My mate had an x5 which I of course ridiculed him for.
Winter came along and he got his missus a freelander.
One day he was telling me how he couldn't get his x5 on his steep icy drive way, but the freeloader drove straight up. Later that night he heard a crash and looked outside to see his freelancer had slid off the drive into a lamp post :eek:
