Hey all
I'm going to refurb a 200tdi discovery engine in a few months to put in my defender, i was wondering does anyone know how big the ideal exhaust bore is? for compromise of more low down grunt, and also speed at full tilt (if its possible)? i want stainless preferably and the louder the better :D, cheers

The standard TDi exhaust is 2 1/2 inch or 60mm.
I have only a cherry bomb as a silencer on my 300TDI just bought a cherry bomb and a bit of 60mm od pipe, removed the old silencer and cut the flared ends of and welded to the pipe and cherry bomb. Sounds good and seem to have more power.

I am not a fan of stainless exhausts. Check the lifetime guarantee it is against CORROSION only. Stainless exhausts on off roaders tend to crack as the hot exhaust is constantly quenched by mud and water. Therefore not covered by the lifetime guarantee.
A standard exhaust is cheap enough and does last for a good 4-5 years

my mate had a stainless eggsauce fitted to his 300 tdi pickup 90 by maniflow in salisbury i have to say i havent heard a diesal sound as good as his did
