Hi- I’m refurbishing my Landy 90 (1984). Can anyone advise which are the best second hand car seats which fit easily into a 90?
I have stripped the interior out completely and am currently painting both internal and external panels.
Seats required pretty soon.
Thanks

I have a pair of classic Range Rover seats easily fitted and very comfortable. Freelander 2 seats fit well too. I am looking to get a pair of seats from a 2 door Evoque and replace the older RR seats.

The thing is if you are slightly chunky in any dept, anything apart from std seats will limit available space.

I am over 6' maybe not overly chunky but I definitely couldn't be described as slim I find the ability to raise the front of the seat gives great support and I have removed the bulkhead to allow the seat to recline which makes it even more comfortable. I honestly think the Classic RR seats are the best option as regards a replacement. I fitted an Anderson plug to the side of the battery box to attach jump leads if necessary and rarely need to remove the seat, even if I do it is only a matter of removing 4 nuts and lift the seat out.

I have to have the seat right back to get my gut behind the wheel, add that to short legs!

There are rear bulkhead removal bars that allow the seats to be fitted further back to allow for for all you fat knackers to slide the seats back. Lol

I fitted Citroen BX seats in mine, needed to fab some rails to allow for slight difference in width, but really nice. A whole load more comfortable with the foam base, and the seat bases release with clips so easy to get at the battery.

I’m the same with Range Rover seats ,super comfy but probably hard to obtain now.

Surely the obvious answer is Defended/Ninety seats. They are much better than anything anyone ever replaces them with.

Personally never thought RR sits fit at all well in a 90. Too big, too deep and just look wrong.

I'm only 5'8 and I had to get a smaller steering wheel to be able to get in with my alfa seat... But its bloody comfortable and you don't slide all over the place.

Pick something with an easy to wire heated seat :D

It was cheap enough not to care about the colour

I fitted them to my old 109 around 20 yrs ago, bluddy lush to sit in for sure.
I seem to recall that although you could Access the battery you couldn't remove it without unbolting the whole seat?.

I fitted leather seats from a focus I had broken, may be a little high but I'll see how it goes, also made a new cubby box and covered it with the leather from the rear seats, and trimmed the inside with the black felt like covering from the backs of rear seats

I've got quite a big battery in mine and I can get it out, but, before doing anything I need to wrap plenty of tape round the terminals and wriggle and jiggle and move the seat back and forth.
In reality it is prob easier just to take the whole seat out, but hey ho.

Take your original seats and refurbish them by replacing the internal foam (and covers if they need it) and painting the frames. When the foam isn't falling to bits they are quite good, and certainly better than bodging in other seats that don't fit properly and/or impede access to the battery. If you want a warm arse you can retrofit this while doing the refurb.

I agree with this, unless you still had the low back version without the headrest, in which case upgrade to some later version defender seats. However as has already been said in good condition standard defender seats are very comfortable and still allow proper access to everything.
