Evening all,

I have been having some what of a mare with my 4.6 Thor after paying over £2k to have a top of the range Prins LPG system fitted.
Was fitted over 5 months ago and has been back to the "approved installer" four times due to poor economy and performance.
I've owned a classic with a 10+yr old single point Leonardo system that gave better economy!
Anyway I'm about to take it too a different LPG garage as beyond fed up now.

I have fitted Magnecor leads, and was told I needed ngk platinum plugs. This was way after they were happy to set the system up on standard ngk copper core plugs.
Now I've read LPG eats platinum, so took the decision to buy some BRISK silver plugs designed for LPG. In order to get the system retuned to these plugs I've had to sign a disclaimer saying if it damages my engine it's down to me as I've fitted none standard plugs.
They have advised now that I fit NGK Silverline plugs part no. Lpg1 1496, that cost almost £200! Then I should go back for another retune. 5th time lucky!

Anyone had any experience of this? I know these brisk ones are cheap but since the re-tune to them performance and economy is way up. 250 miles from a 90L tank.

Apologies for the long post!!!

personally ive never had a prob with ngk platinum in a thor on lpg

From what research I've done will run well on platinum but the plugs won't last. What sort of life expectancy of platinum plugs do you expect? I'm assuming NGK started making LPG plugs from silver for a reason or maybe it's just a case of profiteering!

I have the NGK PRF6N-11 in my Thor with LPG. no problems though they did cost £60 for a set.

Is the Prinz system single point or multi point ?

How many standard sets at £15.00 that do the job just as well can you buy for £60.00? :D:D

It's a multipoint VSI system. I just spent £40 on these brisk plugs goes like stink on petrol but very lethargic on LPG. Getting fed up after forking out over £2k for apparently the best system available and nearly 6 months later still not running properly on gas!

Can anyone confirm the platinum ngk plug part no for the Thor engine please?

Seems a bit odd. I know of several GEMS running fine on LPG and sure many here have THOR on LPG.

I think there is some learning around the trims and it is never 100% on tickover on the GEMS but should be OK as soon as you touch the throttle.

I've run LPG for years now. Standard plugs (with standard gap) for your engine are all you need. If it's not running well on LPG it's far more likely to be the installation or the set up of the software. In my experience ****y spark plugs don't make any difference to performance or economy.
