Can I also confuse you by adding that modern gl5's aren't as aggressive and gl5 ml1 is meant to be alright.

good that you say this as that £15.99 exol stuff is gl5. says on the container Api gl-5 military mil-L-2105
take it this stuffs no good for the Gearbox and transmission in my series then?

Prolly not, but neither are your gear changes :D ... is that second *CRUNCH*

I haven't a clue.. it's a proper minefield. Some say newer is ok, ml1 is ok, gl4 spec is crap, etc. Seems a bit of a minefield. imo if you can stick to gl4, do it.

On that note, farm places around here just have gl5.

Most EP additves today (since about 1995) include corrosion inhibitors and metal deactivators so the copper alloy corrosion scare is largely a thing of the past. Modern "dual-rated" GL4/GL5 lubes for MT's are completely safe. I know ours are after 5 years+ of testing in all kinds of manual transmissions.

might aswell save me the bother of sending this 10l of gl-5 stuff i bought back and risk using it in me landy.
