i would like to fit a pressure gauge somewhere in the fuel system for diagnostic purposes, try to identify a failing pump or regulator before it gets too bad. If I understand correctly,in the diagram below i should have best results if i fit it along the green pipe between the pump and the regulator, and that should give 4 Bar of pressure at idle.

You would just be adding another potential failure point for no logical reason.
well the logical reason is to get data. a slight reduction in pressure might indicate a failing pump, failing filter or valve, failing fpr and even a problem in the connection (earth) way before you are stuck at the side waiting for the recovery truck. as i overland that would obviously be a bigger problem for me :)
 
Stick a t piece into the fpr fuel temp sender hole..... Im afraid I dont know the thread sizes for you.

This thread might help you.... but I see you have already commented, in 2021.

This is a full fuel pressure kit, sensor and guage. Pretty pricey though.

yes that was my first time trying to tackle this. I had gone for a nitrous adapter but the closest i could find was 5/16 connectoir which is not exactly 7.89mm the td5 has and obviously it leaks

thought about that, its a pretty easy solution but im worried the location change would affect the performance of the temperature sensor, even though its just 1 cm or so, not sure if it would have any effect

no worries, it will not have any bad effect

There is a version i made for a friend which does not involve a gauge, it still needs the T piece in the FPR but a simple N/C low pressure switch which can be set to 4 bar, works on the same principle like the oil pressure switch,(something like this https://ilfocolaregroup.it/shop/en/...adjustable-water-pressure-switch-2-6-bar.html ), one pin connected to earth and the other to the water in fuel warning wire under the dash which goes out when the pressure is 4 bar or above and if the pressure fails below that limit the warning comes on cos the switch closes to earth (provided the water sensor on the filter was disabled which in most cases it is)

i planned to do it on my own vehicle too but i didnt have time for myself :oops:
 
so i set it up like this. there are no leaks (fingers crossed). have to say it was quite a squeeze, if i had to do it again, i would use a braided flexible hose to relocate the sender somewhere else:
