Checked all of my discs, pads and calipers today and on the front ones two or more pistons are really rusted up so I need to replace them. We welcome any suggestions where to get a full kit of parts of good quality including all the small bits needed. Normally used Paddocks or JGS 4X4 , anybody got any experience with others?

Thanks in advance

I used paddocks for all the bits on our 2 D1 brakes - Mintex disks and pads, and stainless pistons and AP Lockheed seals for the calipers. I wouldn't bother with new calipers, unless you're going for AP, and even then I'd fit new SS pistons ....

Just done my fl2, used the britpart xs ones from land rover direct.
Pretty impressed with the disks and pads.

I've got Britpart performance front discs on both the Defender and Freelander, with EBC pads and they've definitely been an improvement.

Edit: Paddock and LR Parts both do them.

Got to say britpart cheap as chips calipers are actually okay.
Def rear ones are 25 quid each!

The secret to keeping them looking tidy is to not use acid based wheel cleaners, tfr or ctfr is good.

Fitted October 2015, obviously not this shiny now, but also not a lump of crapy rusty metal either.

Eurocar Parts are worth a try, that's who I use
Quite often have discount codes, currently have 40% off brake parts by using code HEAT 50

The Freelander disc was a pain to get off though! View attachment 214134
Now thats what I call stuck, Ive taken quite a few difficult ones off but never had to do that.
My FL2 disks were still quite thick but rusted up to hell, had to do the handbrake shoes too.

Its worth noting that Britpart seem to do two levels of parts, the cheap ons and then the better "genuine" parts, they are a bit dearer but very good.

I gave up and took it to a garage, if I’d hit it any harder I might have made it undriveable and would have had to get it towed!
