jLR have announced today that production at Hailwood will stop today due to the world wide shortage of Computer CHIPS. Who said technology was a bad thing.:D:D:rolleyes:

I seriously doubt that this is the real reason. Hailwood or any other car manufacturing plant won't use chips in house, as they'll simply fit complete modules, which will have the semiconductors (the proper name for chips) soldered on elsewhere.

Yep, that is the problem. It's a chain reaction, the place that solders the semiconductors can't deliver to jlr (and many others) because they are missing components.
And it's not like wheels and tyres where you can swap them around. Some of these are patented and car manufacturers do not own the schematics/patents even if they would decide do make them elsewhere.
