It’s time to change my current boots as they have been on her since 2005 !
Current boots are Goodridge all terrain
Probably going to change to the same ones just a modern version.
Any one running with these and how were they in the snow ? I’m not going to be using them for off-roading.


 
Dunno about the new ones, but when I had my Disco it was always run with BFG AT's, 'cept for the last year or so when I ran Extremes, the early version which you have now so you probably know this ....

Whilst their wet weather ability wasn't brilliant, in snow they were very sure-footed, especially when it was newly fallen, but then even pure road tyres work on new snow if you can drive! When it was slushy, in suburbs or town etc they were damn good. I'm guessing that their compound continues to work well at low temperatures, but the tread pattern couldn't shift water well enough for just rain!

I can only guess, but I can't see the KO2 being worse .. :)
 
The old Michelin XPC 4x4 tyres are pretty good all-round tyres and alright in the cold as they have similar sipes to winter tyres. What you're looking for are proper winter tyres- they have a different compound which stays flexible at low temperatures. They're better below around 7 degrees than summer tyres. I noticed in Germany that lots of people seem to just run winter tyres all year round rather than have two sets.
 
The BFG AT KO2's will be fine and do what you want. Not the cheapest tyre mind, so have a look about if you want to spend less. Plenty of other good tyres.

Personally I prefer a true 7.50 x 16 on a Series or something narrow, but tread choice is a bit limited. I know BFG offer their MT's in 7.50's though, so maybe they do with their AT's too.


Running winter tyres all year round is fine, although they can get easily torn up on a dry hot road and wear quicker than normal. This can also impact handling and braking to a certain extent.
 
Have to agree with what has been said above. I run bfg at's on the 110 and cannot fault them.
I run 7.50 michelin xzl's on the series and these are definitely not as sure footed in ice and snow but at series snow speeds they are fine for my use.
 
I like the look of the BFG AT’s and the new ones sound like a good all round tyre.
Last winter I ended up snowed in so wanting to be able to get out this year.
Knowing my luck it won’t snow.
 
Since we have the option of using studded tyres on this side of the North Sea, I would probably go for Nokian Hakkapeliitta, which is a top-notch tyre, with studs if wanted. Yes, it sets you back a fair amount, and no, it certainly isn't 7.50xR16, but good quality tyres must be seen as a no-brainer, since it is all about security. Not sure if studded tyres are allowed in the UK though?
 
I've just seen the price! We just don't get the conditions for studs, as to whether they are allowed or not at that price I doubt its a question that comes up vey often. Like it or not the UK has the largest used tyre market in Europe, mostly because we are one of the few countries that allows the sale of used tyres so any new tyre is in competition with a part worn set at half or a 1/4 the price.
