Hi,
my brake discs are lipped and need changing... I have been looking for replacements and came across EBC and Terrafirma brake discs which will retail around £200 (front and back).

any oppinions?

looking for good sized (large diameter) ones.

thanks!

My opinion is those wheels look cock.
That said me mate swears by ebc and he use them to carry heavy loads alot.Ive got mintex they is nice cheap-but still do the job.

thanks goonarmy, the wheels came with the car, i know they are cheap wolfrace and i want smaller 20 inch ones which i will buy as soon as these (new) tires wear off.

i think I will go for EBC, but I want to get the best, any particular model or is it what they call the TURBO GROOVED ones?

cheers

Best speak to ebc see what they recomend. And any way its only me opinion-dont mean nowt like anything else i post! You looking for performance pads?

no worries,

and thanks brutus!

I dont want performance discs as I am not really a racer, but as I intend to improve my turbo (new intercooler for sure, along with new exhaust as mine is rusting away) I may as well consider... any good suggestions?

Original or aftermarket brake discs are readily available and the latter are fine and as cheap as chips.
The car was designed with ungrooved discs so why the need to change?
I can't understand why people pay mega money for side vents, Range Rover sport grilles etc. to make the car look something it isn't. You bought the car as a P38 so why change it other than for mechanical or safety reasons. There are more than enough P38 mod's out there to enhance the motor. If you want it to look like a newer model, why not buy one? I for one would not buy a car which looks like a "Tarted up" Boy Racer image motor.
As an old fart, I have probably opened a can of worms-what the hell-that's what this site is known for!!!!

just a thort but what you gonna do if ya driving along and ya eas goes. you be down on the bump stops and ya wheels must be on the arches.

sure, I am not looking to turn the P38 into a new one, I am just trying to get the best I can get, and I believe grooved discs are better than normal ones.

I will never turn my P38 into a new one, first thing I did after buying it was getting it serviced by land Rover, getting a service sheet with everything that is wrong and now I am trying to fix it.

anyway, I am liking my renovation plan as much as I like the P38.

Well i dont really understand the theory behind groved discs.Yes i know it allows expanding gases to escape, but will it not reduce the surface area of the disc?Any way get the best you can afford for ya motor and if ya cut your corners dont expect the earth

The P38 isn't a sporty motor. O.K., it can go well. I have driven mine at 130 and it took me 12 months to pay the petrol bill on the credit card off-11mpg from memory.
The Missus Vectra-good for 150 at 20mpg is a better option.
However, I have read that the Bugatti Veyron is good on style-even comes with fluffy dice as standard.

Yeah you do sound like a boring fart! :p

I like to customise thing because I like to try out things and make things a bit more to my taste. If everything in life was purely about function it would be a very boring place.

But yes the wheels do look a bit gash in my opinion. Not sure if they do Black Diamond Disks for the P38, but I have used them in the past and they are superb in every respect.

ok, the wheels may not be to some people's taste but they are not the worst actually, they are quite simple 7 spoke; are not "shiny" chromed, the tires are nice and fat enough not to look like this ...

now, this is ugly imho.
