Greetings from a n00b, been into Rover cars for yonks, but I'm now looking into getting a good towcar for running up and down the country with a car trailer on the back. I've borrowed a mates Rangie several times and it's great bar watching the fuel gauge drop!! I've been looking around, and I've ruled out any JapCrap, and considering either a Discovery TDi, or a Rangie on LPG, but open to any other options, budget will be about £1000 unless I manage to blag a swap for my Rover coupe!

So, what's best? Ta:)

Discovery TDI is probably your best bet for that sort of budget especially as you can throw veg oil in the tank and reduce your fuel costs even more.

Well Disco was my first choice, and handy to know about veggy oil! I know the L series is happy to run on it, billy bonus that the TDi will too :D

What he said, I had a 3.9 rangie auto before my disco and the disco i a far better tow car i my opinion.

can I put veg oil in me TD5

TD5 for a grand:rolleyes: sure a lot of people would like that :D

Disco sounds like the answer for that money. Fairly comfortable road car plus you have the benefit of the same low ratio gearbox as the Defender for the slow speed maneouvering.

Cheers

Well I'm still looking for one, but I'm having no joy shifting this coupe :(

There's an L reg Disco at a local-ish dealer L reg for £1 wonder if I can talk him into a swap:rolleyes:
