Yay I win again !!
CTC,carbon tetrachloride Was that the stuff in the old Pyrene brass extinguishers as I remember people used them to get dabs of grease of clothes, probably all empty if there actually was a fire!
It is CTC that makes Phosgene gas.Think it was acetone that made phosgene.
Cant see a fire extinguisher (which did indeed contain carbon tet) making phosgene as bound to come in contact with hot metal?

WrongNo sorry it would be chloroform or methylene chloride
RightIt is CTC that makes Phosgene gas.
It's the self abuse that does that.Trich 1.1.1, genklene, arklone all that sort of degreaser was used a lot as non flammable but pretty sure most of it was banned years ago or became unpopular to use in industry and the replacements were a compromise of being a great degreaser but highly flammable or water based and less effective.
When i was kid and had been working in my garage on cars with my older brothers i used to wash my hands in Trich which proved to be a bad idea as the skin on my hands all cracked in a very bad way.
