What engine is best to put into Series III? I want a combination of good reliability, good fuel economy, good level of torque and it must be relatively easy to get serviced (ie not a rarity).

Just put a 2.8TD Daihatsu lump in mine....


Instead of doing 27 mph up Detling Hill (Coastbound) with a 2.5 NA lump.

She goes up in top gear at 50mph, and Im running oversize tyres... Roll on fitting the Overdrive.

200 tdi ..... nothin else compares .... and ticks all yer boxes..

Yeah, 200Tdi fer wot you want. Best injun LR have made.















But the V8 is an easier conversion.

wait a few years and get a V8 doosil frum one o the new rangie's..... dunno if there any good like........

a friend of mine has a gmc v8 doosil in a 2a, bonnet doesnt shut like and its dunt really go as well as u'd think!!

Yeah, ah reckon. Not doosul mind, but a petroil V8 mated to the series box has gorra be more straightforward than oiking in a 200Tdi & box.

put if ya just put the 200Di in you dont have to strart chopping ya bulkhead out.
