Hi Guys

I am going to change the front brake pads on my 05 TD4 in a few weeks. Which are the best ones to go for at reasonable money. I've see EBC Ultimax for about £29, Mintex for about £22 or of course the original part for about £40. Anybody got any recomedations / preferences.

Thanks guys.

I have had three in a year on mine as have movement in pads! Not sure what I am doing wrong! I had mintex and squealed badley but think the disks were not colling down. So changed all discs and pads to Pagid. Ok for the begining and then got knocking when pulling away or coming to a stand still. So checked calipers and cleaned everything and put in a **** pair of pads and still knocking!

Not sure what to do now but i am sure its the pads moving. Anything i am doing wrong? Can it be those brass bits that hold the pads in place the issue?

Your help will be juch appreciated

Regards

Not being daft an all, but have you replaced the locating screws on the discs when replacing them? I know the wheel nuts should hold things tight, but worth a mention?

Hi

Decided to get new original pads with caliper bolts and slider pins and the brass bits that hold the pads in place. First drive no knocking! But the first drive after the last change was the same, then it later started knocking.

a good friend of mine in the trade would never use Mintex (he has had issues with quality) but swears by Pagid for everyday use, most of his track cars use EBC though...

i will say this about pagid... they are mega dusty pads... expect real dirty alloys if u don`t clean em often...

Hi changed to original pads and much better. Only issue, right drivers caliper knocking! I think its that the caliper does not go back to place after brakes have been pressed. Hense the slight knock on pull off. Not all the time but it does it. I changed pads, slider pins, brass clips that hold brakes in place. The week prior I cleaned the piston on the caliper of any crap. Any ideas?

hi there there is only one large piston.

pressed brakes. cleaned piston and seemed ok.

slider pins are new from lr. they only go in one way right?

cheers

Cheers, the caliper of the bracket the caliper screws into? or remove pads, screw back caliper on the bracket then check?
