Been having one or two leccy gremlins to say the least and are toying with the idea of converting to a blade fuse holder as opposed to the old glass type.

Anyone done this or know whether it is a worthwhile conversion?

Yes and Yes......no more wiper blades stopping just when you need em:D:D
 
Just use a disco 200tdi fusebox....Bit of cutting to the mounting plate to recess it and bobs your uncle
 
When you say "bit of cutting" are we talking a relatively easy diy job to change over or am i better switching to a generic blade fuse holder such as listed on ebay?

Defo gonna change as having just too many problems and continuity across old fuses is hit and miss
 
did this on the 110 and it was very worth while.
bought two fuse boxes from Vehicle wiring products and wired em in.

I would swap one or two wires at a time and make note of the fuse raing in each as you go. Dont do what I did and take all the glass fuses out fisrt and then swap wires over soldering the ends on as a precaution. I then filled the back up with sealant to protect the wires from touching accidentally...great job...but forgot which fuses went where so didn't know which was ten which was fifteen etc.:doh:

I used the box out of the 200tdi disco because I had one spare. I just drew round it and cut it out of the panel then bolted it in using the bolt holes already there. I used it because it saved me having to buy fuses as it was already full and I could match up the wires to the correct places in the disco box. It also had the correct coloured wires to me 2.5td 110 so matching them up was easy.
 
Definately - I used an early 300tdi defender one so that it fitted in the proper place. Easy job to do just fiddly - I did a wire at a time and, as a result, the gremlins disappeared (well, that set anyway!).

I have a C Reg 90 that a previous owner installed a blade fuse box. Top notch work, I've had no problems with it. Unfortunately, they didn't map it out either. Is there an easy way to do this? I've considered turning everything on, pulling fuses and watching what turns off, but thought I'd ask if there was a better way.

Seems altogether a well worthwhile conversion. Good tip on colours matching by using TDI fuse board:) I will on the basis of that go down that route. Will keep a photo diary and let anyone who interested know how easy/fiddly a job it is.
 
This is the picture of the board i purchased from a disco. I believe it to be a 200tdi. Can anyony confirm this before i start? cheers

This is pic of rear of fuseboard which hopefully the colours will match up to existing wiring with plenty of spare fuses for extra additions:)
The idea as per recommendations is to solder and heatshrink the appropriate wires together.

Will keep you posted when i undertake changeover with further pics

Wrong board! its got and ECU so bit too complicated for this coversion. Anyone need an AMR 1280 ECU and fuse board let me know as i have one spare now:doh:
