Hi Guys,
I have sold my Disco and am now looking to buy a Defender 90 County Station Wagon probably a 2008 or 2009 model. Is there any nasty's I should look out for and do they have a timing belt or chain.

no defo a chain I believe all td 5 are chains

things to look out for

head gasket problems is it leaking coolant expensive fix

off road damage

injector harness leaking into the ecu cheap fix

corrosion door bottoms chassis bulk head

basically they are a great vehicle if looked after properly regular oil change original part filters

Top class guys, thanx for replying.
Had the timing belt & water pump done on my Audi Quattro {£650} so its good to know that the Defender has a chain. Thanx also for giving me the heads up on the Head Gasket problems etc.

08 or 09 would be a tdci? Then i'm sure they are chain as well.

Also google tdci defender problems think there was a issue with a lift pump and some electrical gremlins, but basically it is a ford transit engine
