Im wondering what happend to my 101s bellhousing now.... Years ago i swapped the v8 for a tdi, and used one of zeus's bellhousings, so i would have had the original. Who knows what happened to it though!

Swapping the transfer gears is easy enough. I cant remember it well, but its very much a diy job with no special tools other than a set of feeler gauges.
 
I have a complete box but need good money for it.

For racing tho keep the engone as rearward as you can most of the top guys have he plenum chamber underneath the bulkhead

Is the box the short bellhousing one? What condition is it in?
Do you know if it will mate straight up to my ex rrc 3.5?

The landy isn't for racing, more trailing etc and the odd jolly day to the beach with the family!

Me it was good working order. These boxes are tough doubt very much wrong with it. It's a 101 short bellhousing box. Bolts up to a Rover v8 with an older 10 inch clutch assy. I don't need to sell it as it may do for a project some day open to offers.

It's not doing any harm where it is. And projects always turn up.

Im unwilling to take the risk on something that's come out of a comp safari motor, for obvious reasons!

I had a measure up today and the engine and box sit hoe they did when in the rrc, if I did have the short bellhousing, although this would give me the recessed front end (like the series), it will also put the sump or at the very least the oil filter directly over the front axle. Not good. As others have mentioned ease of access and maintenance is great with the standard box and v8 as they are (very similar position to r380 and td5 in defender), so will be sticking with what I've got, and fit the deffy slam panel and bonnet.

You will probably need a remote oil filter assy anyhow if building it for trials and watch where the front axle comes up as there is a sweet spot and everywhere else hits. Unless you take the engine up which isn't good

Cheers for that mate, but id only need that filter block that relocates the filter to the verticle position if I went ahead with the short bellhousing.

I'm using my old RRC chassis, so the engine sits exactly how it did in the rangie, and the axle is in the exact same position as it was before to, so I think for the sake of an easier life ill just put up with having the flush front end. As has been said before, ease of access is brilliant like this, and it means I can use the original fan and v8 radiator, so all good!
 
Moving the engine back is ballache but if it's comp safari I think it's worthwhile. Trials not so much. Many have the middle of the plenum chamber under the bulkhead
