Righto,

in the last few weeks i've fixed these issues with my L322

new water pump £500
4 x new continental tyres £1,000
chemical engine flush
air susp reset
land rover diagnostic showing all clear.
brake pads & discs serviced,
oil serviced,
stage 1 detail on paintwork, costing hundreds in materials but has the paint looking almost new. going to give a more thorough workup when i have a week.
exhaust rubbers replaced,
cam cover & "gasket"'s replaced by LR

yet to do,
osr door mechanism failed  won't unlock with key but will with manual release, does lock again on key..?
battery drain, causing car death after 2-3 days of non use.. could well be heating resistor as the area that's located in is making odd noises occasionally, i:e when first unlocking the vehicle.

SCREAMING noise, when started after being left for a while, RAC say this is "alternator" struggling to keep up with charging the battery, usually subsides after a few minutes, however earlier on a short journey out cranked the heated seats, heating, radio & wipers full & it was screaming down the road, the noise gets louder the harder you rev, any ideas anyone?

it's really a lovely car, looks brand new now after the 3 day detail i did, now i know the in's & outs of this cars awful past i'm a bit easier, but if this screaming noise doesn't go away i will die! i was @ a nissan dealer few days back with the mrs & i must say the 370z they have in stock ready to go is certainly ticking some boxes that this beast is missing.

nonetheless i'm starting to get RR fever & will be keeping this one either way. just can't afford another huge bill, i paid under the odds for the car but the dealer has been an absolute #### since i bought it, ignoring every written request i make & frankly, i can't be bothered, i've got the money to fix the problems & it's less hassle than trying to get a response out this inbred chavy assholes. i will most certainly be xrumer'ing the living daylights out of any trading name they plan on using.. ever,

rant over, thanks in advance anyone who knows what might be causing this.

I have had similar nightmares with my V8 90

here is a list of all the stuff i have had to do in the last 3 months

Wash and polish - free
Advance timing a bit - free

I am beginning to wonder if it's worth the aggro.....................

Squealing will be either a maladjusted tensioner, or a weak tensioner ram - simple to spanner, just the fan gets in the way!

Is it off the bump stops yet?? you mention EAS issue but LR diagnostics says all clear, so can I assume it is working correctly now?

I did send you a PM to arrange for a coffee morning to plug in and take a look, but I think you might have not seen that one!

This week is hectic, as I have my MOT tomorow, out this evening, out Wednesday (as usual), Thursday isn't looking to bad, No chance Friday....weekends out too!

Hope you not including me in the 'awful past' it was fine when it left me 3 years ago. By the way the final stage resistor was replaced by me with the later type so that should be ok.
Can we see some photos of the newly detailed paintwork?

If the FSR is OK, try removing the Headlamp Wipers, as they have been known not to Park properly leading to a current drain...if after that there is still a drain, time to start pulling fuses, till it stops!

Else suspect the Alternator Diode.Regulator pack!

P,

i left a MASSIVE reply about how your cars & women are probably all very happy etc etc, but it got deleted when the browser crashed,

no, you are the kind of person i want to buy a car from, without this essex trash inbetween, when you get rid of your current one.. first refusal?

honestly, receipt after receipt after receipt in your name, air comp, batteries, eas clear.

then all these essex monkeys contributed was a packet of fake tan in the glovebox (swear on my life) a few bits of shiny plastic & a few nastily maintained key components.

i will put some pics of her up when she's finished going through hell! i'm going to take back the clearcoat a notch to get some of these deeper swirls / scratches out, then get all this chavy ****e off & restore the plastic to black (not using tacky sprays) then going to get the silver door handles off and buy new ones (much more discreet) i think for now the front grille can stay,

thanks,

Chris, You quoted me, but I think your reply was for the Pevious Post...:D:D:D

Just a thought, I've had a few of these at work with battery drain issues and it's always turned out to be water leakin in when raining in the rear passenger quarter, this wets the nag unit and stereo amps etc and causes then to short oot also leaving a good pool of water under them, ava look and let me no, hope this helps.

Oh and bye the way it's the boot seals that cause it, or more than that the rolled edge lip that the seal sits on, as u open the boot pull the seal away in the top left corner there's 2 bits of metal rolled together that the seal sits on... Should have factory sealant there but after a few years it leaks threw the metal skins down the rear quarter then Drops onto the NAV unit and stereo amp unit, hope that's better help than my last post lol

Only tongue in cheek mate, I knew you didn't mean me. Look forward to seeing the pics and good luck with your problems, persevere though its worth it in the end.

Haha, i hope so paul. it's getting better, i do feel like i paid under the odds & the dealers.

nope, that's it, it's going.

selling it if anyone's interested, i believe the squealing is the belt ,if so the garage that did the water pump has some explaining to do, it's the only outstanding issue with the car atm so i'll get it resolved then whomever can buy it.

i've replaced all the things mentioned above in my first post.

notably the 4 brand new tyres costing well over a grand!

i'm thinking i'm going to remove the awful chrome off thet bodywork,

inbox me anyone if you're interested & we'll talk price age etc, i've got an ad out i can link you to.

i've done my best with her, i thought i was ready to tackle the vogues but i'm just going to go buy a brand new sport, no mot, comprehensive warranty, that's solved that.

Is the only issue the Squealing belt??

Garage have probrably spilled antifreeze on the belt from changin water pump, and it should be the pink stuff (oats organic) so that will make it squeak more than standard blue anti freeze.

yep, it's otherwise in fantastic condition.
Clean the belt and get it retensioned and see what happens....

Range Rovers are a labour of love, as I have said before they will test your patience and pocket, but nothing beats them...!!
