My dash is out so I’ve tidied up the bulkhead behind it and I am going to try and quieten things a bit with insulation or sound deadening. What’s better, 5mm closed cell foam or tar sound deadening panels ??

The tar panels take the "twang" out, the closed sell foam sheets absorb sound/don't let it pass through.
The foil covered foam panels reflect heat and stop sound.

Sound pads will stop the vibration in the panels and give it a dead sound when you knock it.
Insulation will help stop sound travelling through and heat getting through either way. Might aswell do both.
Edit: Beaten to it ^^^^
