i want to convert my duel mass to a solid fly wheel but been told not to do it any body out there got any advice out there ?
I agree with James.
DMFs are fitted for a reason and do serve a purpose. Alot of people just see them as an unnecessary expense, but they prolong the life of gearboxes, especially on engines with heavy crankshaft pulses like 4 and 5 cylinder engines.
Manufacturers spend millions on design to optimise performance and longevity of major components, yet Billy Bloggs with his set of Draper spanners and a Haynes manual thinks he's figured something new out, always the way.
they are on some vehicles but dont seem such an issue with lrsBut DMF's are proving unreliable that's why SMF conversion kits are available. I've replaced several including a couple of Tranny vans that do high mileages, and to date the SMF conversion is out lasting the original set up by a hell of a long way, no gear box problems either.
